Title Deeds in a day
The government is planning to tighten up the delays in the issuing of the Title Deeds (TAPU).This means that the process will take just one day to complete, as it does now for the Turks. The new procedure is due to start in February 2007, announced the Office of the Register of Deeds. This will hopefully put an end to the delay in the issuing of the Tapu's, which in some cases have taken more than 12 months to complete.
The main cause of the delays has been the time taken by the Army to check that the properties are not in any Military zones or restricted areas. These areas will now be defined and put into a central computerised data bank. Once that process is complete, sales of property can be carried out without the approval of the military.

The Altinkum Marina
The end of October finally saw the start of the much talked about Marina.
The $50m project is being undertaken by the construction company Dogus Holdings and is expected to take 30 months to complete. When complete the Marina will hold 555 yachts on water and 300 in dry dock. It is anticipated that the Marina will put Altinkum on the same level as Bodrum, Kusadasi and Marmaris in the tourism stakes. Construction is continuing on the main breakwater and the slip way for the yachts, with 50 workers working around the clock , with 10 trucks, 4 scoops and 2 bulldozers. Dynamiting, under the supervision of the Gendarme, will continue to break up the rocks as the area needs to be levelled.
